Ladies at Ascott

We were at Becky's this morning and the girls went off to play while mummy and Beth caught up with Aunty Laura. I can trust Neive to go up and down stairs and run around the back garden and I can trust Becky to make sure Neive's not up to something she shouldn't be. Then we hit the shops. There's not really much to do in Carluke and not many shops but the girls managed to find some posh hats to try on. They went crazy. They may look like posh totty but we were in the local charity shop - I'd never let them anywhere near them in a real shop. Granny chickens bought some matching pink dresses for the girls and Neive was so excited to be wearing the same thing.

In the afternoon we got the paddling pool out to cool down. Beth got soaked by Neive and I really hope that some day Beth starts getting her own back.

She even tried to get me - the cheeky devil.

Wee bush

After a great day at the wedding the family all met up again for lunch - this time with our babies in tow. Neive got to play with Holly and Amy (her 2nd cousins)and we put some tunes on the jukebox so they could dance.

We had a great time hanging out but a bit of advice to all my friends. Do not go to the wee bush if you have kids. They didn't own a high chair and have no baby change facilities I had to change Beth on a chair next to the dinner table and F had to drive home to pick up a high chair. The food is not that good either.

Jamie and Scott's Wedding

I have no pics at the moment as I didn't take a camera - they will be uploaded later on.

Congratulations Jamie and Scott. We went to their wedding on Saturday at a grand old church on princess st and then to the beautiful and idyllic norton house hotel for the reception. They got a beautiful day for it and everyone had a great time. The food was delicious and the company wasn't that bad either.

Jamie looked beautiful but I always think brides do look beautiful on their big day as they are practically glowing with happiness. I was drinking for the first time in ages and it was good catching up with Frasers family. Frasers mum even got a dance off of her son (F hates dancing). Unfortunately we decided not to stay over and get the bus back (if mum and dad hadn't called already to call us away if Beth wasn't settling)as we had the kids on Sunday morning.

Chicken Pox - Part 2

So Since Friday 11th Beth has had spots. They looked completely different from Neive's spot so I hoped they wouldn't turn into chicken pox since we had a wedding on Saturday. They looked like white boils whereas Neives were bright red spots. Neive only had a rash on her back and about 7 fierce looking spots. Poor Beth has really red fierce looking spots all over her face (even in her ear) and all over the areas her nappy is on. You'd think this would mean she would be grumpy, unsettled and crying a lot but she's been fine. Not a cry or even an attempt to scratch. They do look like the kind that will leave pox marks though.

It was her first night stay away on Saturday night while we were at the wedding. Now Neive was farmed out overnight much younger but there would have been no chance I would have left Neive when she was ill as a baby. So I felt really guilty about this. I think part of the reason she settles well with other people is that she can see Neive and knows she's safe and we'll be back. That's what I told myself anyway!

It's finished - the wendy house 2 years on

For Neive's 2nd Christmas Fraser and Yanny built a Wendy house. It was beautifully painted on the outside and I promised Fraser I would paint the inside. Well things seemed to always come up and i never managed it. So lately, I have been staying up late and painting it each night (three coats) I even made curtains for it (my first sewing project). It looks pretty good though. Neive and Beth were playing outside and my mum couldn't get over Beth trying to ride the motorbike. She is definitely one to watch.

Lanimers

Lanimers is Lanarks version of a gala. The floats are crazy big and I think that people must start planning them the week after the last laminers. They have big bands and bagpipes playing in the procession and Neive's favourite horses!. It's quite impressive and I am in the process of planning the float for Neives local gala on the 26th. I asked all the girl how long it would take to make 10 000 flowers for our float and they all promptly walked away from me in disgust. Our float will be pretty good too even without the flowers.

After the procession is looked like it was going to be a cold day so we went to soft play to knacker the kids out and then back to Lorna's for a well deserved coffee.

Aunty Nina welcome home

Frasers' Aunty Davina now lives in Australia and she came to visit everyone for her holidays. She sent a bear two years ago with a voice recording. We talk about her too but didn't actually think Neive would remember her from the last time she saw here (I think she was under 1). However, as soon as she saw Davina get out the car she ran up and gave her a big bear hug. She was back for a couple of days and globetrotter to Spain for a weekend with Granny Ducks and Aunty Margaret. When she came home she had even more presents for Beth and Neive. This time it was castanets. This is Neive practising with them and shouting ole!

Granny duck brought home two gorgeous matching dresses which will be brilliant for summer.

Two cheeky monkeys bouncing on the bed

Every morning when we are getting ready we put some cheesy music on like abba or girs aloud and Neive jumps on the bed dancing. Beth has been watching this and decided to give it a try herself. She keeps falling over but is desperate to get back up for another bounce. I think i'll have to break the news to daddy that our bed wont last much longer.

Walking

Beth has really come on in the last couple of weeks. She can clap, wave and laughs all the time. She especially likes her toes and chin getting tickled or a big raspberry blown on them. She smiles whenever Neive walks by. She can get anywhere she wants either by commando crawling or walking around furniture. She can pull herself up and eats mostly the same meals as us. It feels like last month I had a baby and this month a wee toddler.

Neive was a brilliant eater. She ate lots and there was hardly any mess. She never wanted to play with food and would just open her mouth wide to fit it all in. Beth is totally the opposite! She doesn't eat a lot of food but loves to feel it, throw it, squish it an generally just make a really big mess. I feel my days are taken up with making breakfast, feeding everyone breakfast, cleaning up and mopping floor after breakfast, then making lunch, feeding lunch and then an hour cleaning it all up again. etc. I know that I should persevere as I believe Neive is such a clean eater now because I let her practise a lot as a baby. But it's really hard watching your kids make such a mess as you know it'll take you ages to clean it all up afterwards!

7

I took a video about 10 days ago and you can see Beth starts to use the walker. Today she was standing unaided for about 15 seconds and pulling herself up on doors. I can see her wee mind ticking saying shall I go for it! The reason baby falls from her walker at the end of the video is a headbutt from Neive. (Beth will get her own back) Actually, this is a game they play together. Neive headbutts Beths bum and she burst out giggling. Neive continues to do this till she eventually knocks Beth over where she burst our crying!

Neive is desperate for her baby sister to be able to play more. We all had a game of hide and seek yesterday and I hid Beth behind the curtain (of course she crawled back out of there before Neive counted to 10) One day though - very soon.

Daisy's house

5th June 2010

We went to visit Daisy and her mum. They have two little dogs; one's a jackadoodle so they were quite jumpy and yappy. Neive was very freaked out as all the dogs she's seen before are big and gentle. She wouldn't go anywhere near the table when the dogs were there even for cake! It's great fun playing with Daisy as she is older and more patient with Neive. There's hardly any disagreements and Daisy has a great imagination. They played shop and explored all the rooms in the house. We can't wait to visit again.

Beckys' Birthday!

4th June 2010

Happy birthday Becky. 5 today! We were invited round for her birthday party after school. Becky looked beautiful in her new lilac dress (pastels are the way to go). Granny Chickens won the "who can buy the biggest card competition". Neive, Beth and I will work on winning next year - I'm sure I can get my hands on a motorway billboard.

Zack was showing off on his bike and exactly like the picture suggests this biker was in for some serious mischief - looking for adventure, whatever comes his way!. He thought he could get away will cycling round the block showing off his Skilz (that's how the youngins sapell it nowadays)! Laura and gordon were not best pleased. He is such a cheeky chappy! Funny as hell to anyone whose not his mum or dad.

He was back in the good books for the big top cake Laura had made and it tasted as good as it looked.

Everyone had a great time

Our Garden

3rd June 2010

Since the weather continued to be beautiful I invited everyone round for a playdate. We have known George for two and a half years and she has never seen our back garden. That tells you what the scottish weather is like. So as soon as we saw it was sunny we invited them over to spend the whole day in the wendy house, swing and ball pit.

All together there were 5 adults and nine children. So quite a quiet affair. They all played great together and only started exhaustion meltdown around 4:30 when everyone promply left.

Big cousin baby sitting

2nd June 2010

Today Beth was looked after by her big cousins while mummy ran some errands. It was a great opportunity for them to shower Beth with affection away from the jealous eyes of Neive. Becky was showing off all those years of experience looking after her dollies. She did such a great job. Obviously Aunty Laura lended a hand too.

Whaaaatsup!

Here are some pics of the beautiful baby Maya Luna Coyle. I went to see her last night and Mum and baby doing fabulous. Daddy is beaming with pride and already boasting that he has changed two nappies! Neive and Beths daddy used to be like that two but after 2 and 1/2 years of constantly changing nappies he will do anything to get out of it.
